Species of the subgenus Truncaturus are usually small, unmodified and with a yellowish or brownish colour. Here a new species of the subgenus is described from Tasmania, which is not only relatively large, but also coloured dark red, a combination not found before within the subgenus. Furthermore, some remarks are made on several other Arrenurus species from Australia.
