A new species in the genus Ugoa Fennah, 1945, Ugoa guianensis sp. nov. is described from specimens recently collected in French Guiana. This is the second species in the genus and the first record of the genus from mainland South America. The new species differs from Ugoa glauca Fennah (from Trinidad) in the presence of an antero-basal black spot on the pedicel and details of the male genitalia. Molecular data for the five-prime region of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene, 18S rRNA gene, and D8 to D10 expansion regions of the 28S rRNA gene are provided for the new taxon.
