Alvaradoa josephinae spec. nov. is described from the Canary Island of La Gomera. The species appears to be con- fined to an area of less than 10 km2 at 1100-1250 m a.s.l. in the southwestern part of the island. Based on conchological and reproductive system morphology, the species is attrib- uted to the genus Alvaradoa, which is considered an inde- pendent genus, rather than a subgenus of Canariella. The systematic position of Alvaradoa is discussed.
