Anacamptis pyramidalis (L.) L.C.M.Rich. var. dunensis Londo, Kreutz & Slings nov. var. (Duinhondskruid), een nieuw taxon voor de Nederlandse flora

Anacamptis pyramidalis (L.) L.C.M.Rich. var. dunensis Londo, Kreutz & Slings nov. var. (Duinhondskruid), een nieuw taxon voor de Nederlandse flora Anacamptis pyramidalis (L.) L.C.M.Rich. is binnen Nederland een zeldzame soort die zowel in kalkgraslanden in Zuid-Limburg als in de kustduinen voorkomt. Het viel op dat de soort in de duinen een aanzienlijk latere bloeitijd heeft dan die in het binnenland. Ook in bloemkleur en vorm van de bloeiaar wijkt het duintype af van het kalkgraslandtype. Een transplantatieproef, waarbij het duintype naar het binnenland werd overgebracht, toonde aan dat de kenmerken van het duintype behouden bleven en dus geen gevolg zijn van klimaatverschillen. Van Anacamptis pyramidalis is een aantal variëteiten beschreven. Geen daarvan komt met het duintype overeen en nergens is binnen de soort zo’n late bloeitijd als van het duintype vastgesteld. Het duintype wordt hier als nieuwe variëteit beschreven: Anacamptis pyramidalis var. dunensis (Duinhondskruid). Deze variëteit onderscheidt zich van de typische variëteit Anacamptis pyramidalis var. pyramidalis door een latere bloeitijd, een meer gedrongen habitus en een meestal kortere min of meer eironde bloeiaar met gemiddeld lichtere (lichtpurperroze) bloemkleur. Een ander verschil is de enigszins S-vormig heen en weer gebogen stengel. Anacamptis pyramidalis (L.) L.C.M.Rich. var. dunensis Londo, Kreutz & Slings nov. var. (Dune pyramidal orchid), a new taxon for the Dutch flora In the Netherlands, Anacamptis pyramidalis (L.) L.C.M.Rich. is a rare species, which occurs in the calcareous grasslands in the Province of Zuid-Limburg and in the calcareous coastal dunes. It is striking that flowering in the dunes is later than inland. Also in other aspects the dune type deviates from the type of the calcareous grasslands such as the colour of the flowers and the shape of the spike. When dune type plants were transplanted to an inland location, the characteristics of the dune type were maintained. These features are therefore not an effect of differences in climate. A number of varieties of Anacamptis pyramidalis has been described. None of these varieties correspond with the dune type and nowhere within the species range such a late flowering time is found. Here, the dune type is described as a new variety: Anacamptis pyramidalis var. dunensis (Dune pyramidal orchid). The variety is characterized by a later flowering time, shorter plants with a mostly shorter more spherical spike and by on an average lighter (light purple pink) coloured flowers. Another character is the more or less S-curved stem.
