Nieuwe vondsten van Ceratophyllum submersum L. (Fijn hoornblad) in de Maas en de IJsselvallei; uitbreiding als gevolg van klimaatverandering?

Vondsten van Fijn hoornblad (Ceratophyllum submersum L.) in het binnenland zijn zeldzaam en volgens Heukels’ Flora “berusten bijna alle binnenlandse opgaven op verwisselingen met Grof hoornblad”. Tussen 2009 en 2014 vonden de auteurs de soort echter in de IJsselvallei en twee keer in Maas. Er lijkt sprake van een duidelijke toename van binnenlandse vondsten in de laatste decennia, want de soort is recent ook door derden gevonden in Twente, Drenthe en in het Fluviatiel District (F). Dit duidt er op dat Fijn Hoornblad zijn areaal aan het uitbreiden is naar het binnenland, waarschijnlijk als gevolg van de relatief mildere winters in de laatste tien jaar. Inland records of Ceratophyllum submersum L. have always been rare in the Netherlands. Between 2009 and 2014 the authors have found the species in the valley of the River IJssel and twice in the River Meuse. Others have recently found the species in the eastern part of the Netherlands and in the east central floral district associated with the major rivers (‘Fluviatiel District’, F). The records suggest that C. submersum is extending its range to inland habitats, probably because of the higher winter temperatures in the last decade.
