March 1951 Dr J.C. Koningsberger, Director of the Botanic Gardens, Bogor, 1910 – 1918, died at The Hague, aged 84. Dr J. Mattfeld, well-known to Malaysian botanists by his excellent work on Papuan Compositae, commissioned Director of the Botanic Gardens and Herbarium at Berlin-Dahlem died Jan. 19, 1951, aged 57.
