Scenidium apiarium (Polyporaceae s.lat.) is described and illustrated. The nomenclatural problems associated with Hexagonia are discussed. Hexagonia Pollini, typified by H. mori, is a possible synonym of Polyporus. The name ‘ Hexagona Fr.’ was never validly published. The tropical species formerly included in Hexagonia belong to Scenidium.
