Since c. 1995 Panicum schinzii has been found as a weed in maize fields on several localities in the eastern part of the Netherlands. The species may now be considered naturalised in the Netherlands. In this paper, P. schinzii is compared with the more common P. dichotomiflorum and several diagnostic morphological differences between the two species are given. Adaptations for the identification key of the Dutch Panicum species are proposed for ‘Heukels’ Flora van Nederland’.²
