A brief biography of Tiberius Lambergen (1717—1763) is given. Lambergen was appointed professor of botany (and medicine) at Franeker in 1749, and of botany, medicine and chemistry at the University of Groningen in 1753. Although there is no definite proof, it is probably correct to assume that Lambergen, apart from making many improvements, introduced the Linnean system and nomenclature into the Groningen botanic garden. Lambergen was a colleague and contemporary of David de Gorier, professor of botany at Harderwijk, after whom this journal has been named.
