A poorly recognized species at its northeastern distribution limit: Scrophularia auriculata L. in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands Scrophularia auriculata is only common in the south of Limburg; in the remaining part of the country it is mainly a river companion. The distribution map (Fig. 1) is exclusively based on herbarium specimens. Because the species has often been confused with other Scrophularia species, a request is made to collect more specimens in order to adjust the distribution pattern of S. auriculata.
