Aulonopygus aculeatus, a new millipede for the fauna of the Netherlands (Diplopoda: Spirostreptida: Spirostreptidae) Aulonopygus aculeatus Attems, 1914 was found for the first time in the Netherlands in the elephant house in the Zoo of Rotterdam in 2001. This is the first record of this species outside of Africa. Adults and juveniles as well as copulating specimens were found in 2001 and 2006, showing that is has become established at this location.
