Recently Hoogmoed & Gruber (1983) provided detailed information on the type material of Spix and Wagler, which was long thought to have been destroyed. After this article was written, a specimen of Physalaemus albifrons Spix, collected by Spix, surfaced in the collection of the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie (RMNH). Details on this specimen are provided.
