A new record of Microdon devius in the central part of the province of Limburg (Diptera: Syrphidae) In 1997 a male of the hoverfly Microdon devius (Linnaeus, 1761) was collected near Weert, in the central part of the province of Limburg in the Netherlands. The only other record from the same area was from the Meynweg in 1990. The nearest population in the Netherlands of this rare species is found in the southernmost part of Limburg. The heath vegetation at the site near Weert harbours a relatively large population of the ant Lasius flavus, the possible host of the larvae of M. devius.
