The type of Rhinoclemmys punctularia (Daudin), from Cayenne, is redescribed. The main variations in the supracephalic pattern of the nominal subspecies are evocated. Rhinoclemmys punctularia lunata (Gray) is not a subspecies geographically restricted to Surinam but a rare individual aberration of R. p. punctularia, which is the Guianan subspecies.
